About the Motorbook app.
Where do the MOT and tax dates come from?
Straight from official sources: the DVSA MOT History service for MOT dates and history, and the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service for tax status and the tax due date. Motorbook simply reads them and reminds you.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your vehicles, reminders and service records stay on your phone. There is no account to create, nothing is sold, and there is no advertising. A plate lookup is passed to the official services to fetch your dates, and nothing more.
Do I really pay only once?
You can. Premium is £3.99 a year, or £9.99 once for lifetime access. There is no weekly plan and no auto-renewing trial designed to catch you out. The free tier covers two cars for good.
Does it work for more than one car?
Yes. Two vehicles are free forever. Add the rest of the family cars, a motorbike or the van on Premium. Each vehicle keeps its own dates, history and reminders.
Can Motorbook track my insurance too?
Yes. Add your insurance renewal date to a vehicle and Motorbook reminds you before it runs out, alongside the MOT and tax. Everything you add stays on your phone.
Where do the fuel prices come from?
Motorbook shows fuel prices at stations near you, refreshed regularly. It uses your location only to find nearby stations, and your location is not logged.
Will it remind me in time to book an MOT?
Motorbook nudges you about a month ahead, again a week before, and on the day, so you have room to book a slot rather than scrambling at the last minute.
Is there an Android version?
Motorbook is on iPhone first, and iPad. An Android version may follow. The website works everywhere in the meantime.
